Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and gather your other ingredients.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the rigatoni pasta until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage and ground beef, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Combine the drained rigatoni with the meat sauce mixture, ensuring the pasta is well-coated.
- Transfer half of the pasta and sauce mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella on top of the first layer of pasta.
- Add the remaining pasta mixture on top of the cheese layer, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and the grated Parmesan on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes
Properly cook rigatoni until al dente and let the dish rest after baking for cleaner servings.
