Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Mashed Potato Fries
- Combine 2 cups of mashed potatoes, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of pepper, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon of onion powder in a large mixing bowl. Stir until evenly coated—about 2 minutes by hand.
- Crack 2 large eggs into the potato mixture and mix thoroughly for another minute until fully incorporated.
- Dampen hands slightly, scoop portions of the potato mixture, and shape into fry-like pieces, about 4-5 inches long and 1 inch thick. Place on a parchment-lined tray.
- If frying, heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C). For baking, preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Carefully place fries into hot oil, cooking for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown. For baking, spread on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Remove fries from heat and let them drain on paper towels for a couple of minutes before serving.
