Preparation
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, wrap in a kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15 minutes.
- Slice the tofu into even pieces, about ½ inch thick.
- Set up your breading station with all-purpose flour seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in one bowl and panko breadcrumbs in another.
Frying
- Dredge each tofu slice in the seasoned flour, dip in water, then coat in panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the breaded tofu slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain excess oil on paper towels before serving with your favorite sauces.

Tofu Katsu can be served with tonkatsu sauce and steamed rice for a complete meal.
