Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  8. Drizzle caramel sauce over the pressed dough.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel layer.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
