Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound lean ground beef substitute with ground turkey or chicken if preferred.
  • 1 Tablespoon taco seasoning for bold flavor.
  • ¼ cup shredded carrot optional, adds sweetness and color.
  • ¼ cup chopped bell pepper or baby spinach optional, for extra vitamins.
For the Crust
  • 2 pie crusts defrosted but unbaked for a flaky exterior.
For the Topping
  • cup shredded Mexican cheese for creaminess.
  • 1 egg for brushing for a golden color.
For Serving
  • 1 cup salsa for dipping.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a medium skillet, cook the ground meat over medium-high heat, breaking it apart until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Stir in taco seasoning and optional fillings, then remove from heat.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Roll out the pie crusts on a floured surface to ⅛ inch thick, then cut out 30 ghost shapes.
  4. Place half the shapes on the baking sheets and fill each with taco filling, topped with cheese.
  5. Cut out faces from the remaining shapes and place them on top of filled shapes, sealing edges with a fork.
  6. Whisk the egg with a splash of water, then brush over the tops of the hand pies.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-14 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes
