Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1 cm border.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the mustard and sprinkle on the shredded cheese and black pepper.
  5. Roll the pastry tightly from one long edge to form a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  6. Slice the log into 12 pieces, each about 1 cm thick, and place cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops of each swirl with the egg wash mixture.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until puffed and golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.
