Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the whole-milk mozzarella in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm it up.
- Slice the baguette diagonally into ½-inch-thick pieces for more surface area.
- Lay the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and toss to coat.
- Bake the baguette slices for about 8–9 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Slice the mozzarella into six ¼-inch-thick planks.
- Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut out ghost shapes from the mozzarella planks.
- Spread about 1 teaspoon of pesto on each crostini.
- Place a slice of Campari tomato on each crostini, then add the mozzarella ghost shapes on top.
- Use balsamic glaze to create ghost faces on the mozzarella.
- Add a slice of tomato and sprinkle chopped mozzarella scraps on remaining crostini and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
- Serve the Caprese Crostini immediately to your guests.
