  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder Intensifies the chocolate goodness.

For the Edible Blood
  • a few drops Red food coloring Gives that dramatic, spooky look to your drink.

  • ¼ cup Chocolate syrup or powdered sugar Choose either to adjust the sweetness and consistency.

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • small bowl
  • Piping bag

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, pour 2 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat. Stir gently and watch closely as the mixture warms, reaching just below a simmer but avoiding a boil—this should take about 5 minutes.
  2. Once your milk and cream mixture is warm, add ½ cup of chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until everything melts together, forming a smooth chocolatey mix.
  3. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the sweetness, then taste and adjust sugar to your liking. Stir well for another minute to ensure everything blends beautifully.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together corn syrup, a few drops of red food coloring, and either chocolate syrup or powdered sugar until you achieve a drizzling consistency.
  5. To prepare your mugs, rim them with cocoa powder or red sanding sugar for an added festive flair. Dip the rim of each mug into corn syrup to help the cocoa or sugar adhere.
  6. Carefully pour the warm chocolate mixture into each prepared mug, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  7. Generously pipe vanilla whipped cream atop each mug, forming a tall, fluffy mound. Use a piping bag for a fun presentation.
  8. Finally, drizzle your prepared edible blood over the whipped cream, allowing it to cascade down the sides of the mugs. Serve immediately.
