Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 cup of chopped mushrooms and sauté until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry to about ⅛ inch thick on a floured surface.
  4. Place the sautéed mushrooms and 1 cup of shredded Gruyère cheese in the center of the puff pastry.
  5. Make diagonal cuts along the sides of the pastry, about 1 inch wide, without cutting into the filling.
  6. Braid the pastry by folding the strips over the filling, alternating sides.
  7. Transfer the braided pastry to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
