Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey for a lighter option
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked for best results
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Italian-seasoned is an excellent choice
  • 1 large egg acts as a binder
For Assembly
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • 1 cup marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 8 sliders slider rolls whole grain optional
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese mix in cheddar for extra flavor
For the Topping
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Italian herbs, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix gently and form into 12 meatballs.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil, and cook meatballs for 8-10 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Cut slider rolls in half and place the bottoms in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spoon marinara sauce on the cut sides of the rolls, place meatballs on top, and cover with more marinara and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Combine melted butter, minced garlic, and grated Parmesan cheese. Brush this topping over the sliders.
  7. Bake covered with foil for 15-20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Sprinkle parsley on top before serving warm.
