Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
- Pour the prepared batter evenly into the two greased pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth. Add black food coloring if desired and stir well.
- Once cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, then place the second layer on top.
- Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top of the cake to create a spiderweb design. Use a knife or toothpick to form the pattern.
- Decorate with chocolate shavings or plastic spiders. Admire your work and enjoy this spooky centerpiece!
